THE PERFECT INTRODUCTION TO GROWING SUSTAINABLE CUT FLOWERS.

Grow heat-loving blooms for summer and the festive season

This vibrant two-day spring workshop is dedicated to the flowers that thrive in heat — the bold, colourful, fast-growing varieties that make summer gardens unforgettable. October is the perfect moment to sow warm-season annuals so they’re established before the hot weather hits.

If you dream of armfuls of zinnias, cosmos, celosia, sunflowers, basil, amaranth and all those joyful summer textures, this course will show you exactly how to grow them. You’ll learn how to plan your summer palette, start seedlings, and set your garden up for continuous harvests throughout the warmest months.

What we cover

  • Top heat-loving flowers for northern NSW

  • Seed starting and transplanting in spring

  • Preparing soil for summer resilience

  • Watering systems + heat management

  • Designing for height, colour + big summer personality

  • Keeping flowers producing through the hottest months

  • Harvesting for long-lasting summer bunches

Why spring is essential

Summer flowers need a head start. Planting in spring means strong, healthy plants ready to bloom across December, January and February.

All techniques and tasks will be demonstrated carefully and will be fun for all ability levels.

WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?

If you love the idea of creating a cutting garden but aren't sure where to start, this program is for you!

Jess will provide a planting guide and step-by-step seasonal actions. At the end of this course you will leave with a tray full of sown seeds, the confidence to get your plants in the ground and the skills needed to look after your garden full of blooms.

This workshop is held outside in the elements and very hands on! Please expect to get dirty. Wear covered shoes and breathable comfy clothing. Bring along sun protection and a water bottle (it will be hot). Lunch is not included but we will stop from a break, so you can either bring your own or purchase from Three Blue Ducks (there will not be enough time to go into Byron).
